Meanwhile, Maldivian Home minister Mohamed Jameel Ahmed has denied that Indian government is involved in negotiating a solution to the issue of Nasheed taking refuge at the Indian mission saying it was up to the former President to respond to judicial summons. "There is nothing for us to start negotiations with him (Nasheed) because it is a question of Nasheed having to do with judiciary when and how he wants to answer the judicial summons as judiciary in the country is an independent institution," he was quoted as saying. "What Indian High Commissioner does and Indian government does I cannot speak on their behalf and it is his right to negotiate, his right how he feels," Ahmed said. Hamid Gafoor of Nasheed's MDP party said they wanted Indian mediation "as they had run out of options and this was their last option."
