The Madras High Court Thursday directed the Vice-Chancellor of Tamil Nadu Dr Ambedkar Law University to submit by September 25 a report on action taken to remove unqualified teaching staff and other staff serving in law colleges across the state and in the university.
Justice S M Subramaniam passed the interim order on a plea of a former professor of the university D Shankar seeking a direction to reinstate him.
The judge sought details on verification of the credentials/certificates and other aspects of the teaching staff.
Justice Subramaniam also said the report should have details on the qualifications prescribed by the University Grants Commission for appointment of professor, assistant professor, head of the department, principal of the law colleges and the law universities.
This apart, the court said, the report shall contain the method of selection to be adopted for recruitment of staff by the university.
