Report on death of ducks in Jind awaited

Nearly a fortnight after 16 ducks were found dead in a pond in Gatauli village here, the report about the reason of their death is awaited.

In cases were bird flu is confirmed, the report is issued in three days, but it has not yet been sent because probably other reasons for the death are being ascertained, Deputy Director, Animal Husbandry Department, Jind, Dr Devendra said today.

The ducks were found dead on December 20, he said.

Samples of three of the ducks were sent to Jalandhar for investigation. The samples were then sent to Bhopal, he said.

Meanwhile, the doctor said samples of the six migratory ducks which were found dead in Dhatrath village in the district yesterday were today sent to Jalandhar.
