Delhi BJP today claimed that Lt Governor Najeeb Jung has "assured" the party of seeking a report from the AAP government over its Law Minister Jitender Singh Tomar's alleged fake law degree even as it accused Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of duplicity.

Indicating its intention to raise the heat on AAP over the issue, the three Delhi BJP MLAs -- Vijender Gupta, O P Sharma and Jagdish Pradhan -- submitted a memorandum to Jung and demanded the dismissal of Tomar from the Cabinet.

"Jung today assured Gupta that he would seek report from Delhi government regarding the matter pertaining to fake certificates of Law and Justice Minister Jitender Singh Tomar. He further assured of appropriate action on the basis of the report," a statement from Gupta's office said.

Gupta said that instead of asking Tomar, who has apparently occupied the position by virtue of "forgery and dishonesty", to resign on "moral and legal" grounds, Kejriwal has chosen not to take any action.

"It is ironical that Kejriwal, who swears by honesty and transparency has not taken any action till today against a man, who has committed a clear cut forgery.

"Since Kejriwal has grossly failed to maintain high moral standards in public life, the Opposition had no option but to approach the Lt Governor and request him to intervene in the matter," it added.
