The Uttar Pradesh State Women Commission (SWC) has taken a serious note of reports that two minor girls were married at a mass wedding event here and has sought a report from the District Magistrate, an official said today.

"The Kori samaj of the district had organised a mass wedding in which 18 couples were married at the Town Hall on June 11," ADM (administration), Jitendra Kumar Sharma, said today.

Union minister of state for women and child development Krishna Raj was reportedly present on the occasion.

There were allegations that two among the 18 girls, who were married on the day, were minors following which the State Women Commission has served notice to the District Magistrate and sought a report from him, the ADM said.

A detailed report has been sought from the SP and district information officer in this regard, the ADM added.
