The Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police office today sought a report from the Superintendent of Police, Sultanpur about supporters of Samajwadi Party candidate Atiq Ahmad flaunting firearms during a procession.

"The DGP office has sought report from SP Sultanpur in this regard," IG (Crime) Ashish Gupta told reporters here.

The ruling party's candidate from Sultanpur, Atiq Ahmad had taken out a procession in Sultanpur yesterday in which his supporters were reportedly seen flaunting firearms.

The IG said the SP's report was likely to be received in a couple of days, and action would be taken if there was any violation of law.

Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav had earlier reproved the action saying no one is above the law.
