A Spanish radio network says one of the country's leading judges has told it that two tourists who were kidnapped in Colombia a month ago have been freed and are in good health.

Cadena SER says National Court Judge Fernando Grande Marlaska has informed it that his relative Maria Concepcion Marlaska and Angel Sanchez Hernandez, both from the northern Spanish city of Aviles, had been freed early yesterday.

Cadena SER published a photograph of the couple wearing Colombian police vests on its website.

Spain's Foreign Minister had acknowledged on May 21 that the Spaniards had been kidnapped. Colombia's anti-kidnapping unit said officials had found the couple's abandoned car in Guajira state.

Spain's Foreign Ministry says it has no comment.
