Republic Day celebrated across Gujarat with fanfare

The 68th Republic Day was celebrated with much fanfare in Gujarat with State Governor O P Kohli unfurling the national flag at Vallabh Vidyanagar town of Anand district in presence of Chief Minister Vijay Rupani.

The state level function to celebrate Republic Day was held in Vallabh Vidyanagar this time by the state government.

Other ministers and parliamentary secretaries in the state government took part in district-level programmes held across the state today.

It was Narendra Modi who started the tradition to observe such functions outside state capital of Gandhinagar when he was Gujarat CM.

Parade, tableaux displaying various scheme of state government and presentation of cultural programmes was also held at Shastri Maidan in Vallabh Vidya Nagar.
 

Rupani greeted the citizens on the occasion and tweeted "The parade is display of force's might, talent & preparedness to counter enemies - visible & invisible. Republic Day Celebration, Anand".

Tricolor were also unfurled at the headquarters of ruling BJP and opposition Congress.

Gujarat Frontier of Border Security Force (BSF) celebrated the day at their headquarter in Gandhinagar.

Among many other schools, colleges and institutions, Republic Day was also celebrated at the famous Somnath Temple in Gir-Somnath district, where Trustee Secretary P K Lehri unfurled the tricolor.

In the Gujarat High Court, Chief Justice R Subhash Reddy unfurled the flag to celebrate the Republic Day. On the occasion, sitting judges, administrative staff as well as many lawyers remained present.
