Rajasthan Electricity Regulatory Commission (RERC) has issued an order for reducing transmission charges for inter-state open access solar projects in the state by 50 per cent, Rajasthan Solar Association said today.
"This by-far is one of the key enablers implemented by Rajasthan government to achieve the Chief Minister's visionary target of 25,000 MW solar capacity," Rajasthan Solar Association said in a statement.
The move will tremendously increase the state's attractiveness as a potential solar export hub by bringing an investment of about Rs 1,75,000 crore and creating over 75,000 jobs, Rajasthan Solar Association (RSA) President Suman Kumar said.

Thus, the demand for solar power is bound to increase from power hungry states where it is difficult to set up solar plants, not only for renewable purchase obligations but also to meet incremental power demand by solar power instead of imported coal-based polluting thermal power plants, it added.
"Rajasthan has huge potential for solar power due to availability of solar insolation and large land and truly has the potential to be the first green state of the country by supply solar energy to these power hungry states with the operationalisation of current order," RSA Secretary Rajeshwar Rajpurohit said.
