Rescue operations in full swing in Kinnaur, more rains likely

Rescue operations continued in full swing in the rain ravaged tribal Kinnaur district with about 150 persons rescued from Sangla and Rekong Peo and dropped off at Rampur till evening by one state and two IAF choppers which made about 15 sorties.

A 25-member team of National Disaster Response Force was airdropped in the affected area to assist in rescue operations.

Meanwhile, the district has received 204 mm of rains yesterday and 65 mm of rains till this morning.

Kalpa was wettest in the region with 65 mm of rains while Sangrah and Renuka in Sirmaur district received 57 mm and 45 mm of rains, followed by Jubbal 38 mm, Guler 35 mm Baijnath 30 mm, Paonta Sahib 28 mm, Rohroo 25 mm, Manali 22 mm, Dalhousie 20 mm and Jogindernagar 19 mm.
 

Kalpa was coldest in the region with minimum temperature at 4.4 degree Celsius while Keylong recorded a low of 7.1 degree C, four degree below normal.

Nahan recorded minimum temperature at 13.3 degree C, ten degree below normal while Solan was cool at 9.2 degree, 8.8 degree below normal.

Una recorded a low of 18 degree, four degree below normal while Shimla was pleasant at night with a low of 12.5 degree, three degree below normal.

The local MeT office has predicted rains, thundershowers or snow at several places in lower, mid and higher hills of the state during the next 48 hours.
