As the central government rolled out a big campaign to promote Yoga on the International Yoga Day today, two reputed institutions in the state have come together to explore the effects of the ancient practise on human health.
The Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST) at Shibpur, near Kolkata, will collaborate with the Indian Research Institute for Integrated Medicine (IRIIM) to set up a research facility at the IIEST to find out what effects the yogic exercise have on human body.
This was stated by IIEST director Ajay Ray while IRIIM director Debasish Baxi promised to extend all help towards the endeavour.
The two eminent persons were speaking at a function organised by the Central Council for Research in Yoga and Naturopathy on the completion of the one-month-long Yoga programmes in Howrah, Hooghly and Alipurduar districts.
