The Jat community will hold a mahapanchayat here in September to press for their demand of reservation to Jats of Bharatpur and Dholpur district under OBC.

Jat Mahasabha's Bharatpur President Fateh Singh said that nearly two lakh community people would participate in the meeting on September 24 after which a memorandum will also be handed over to the district collector.

It was announced in a meeting here organised by the Jat Mahasabha which was addressed by the national general secretary of All India Jat Mahasabha, Yudhveer Singh.

Singh said that Jat community people in Bharatpur and Dholpur districts are eligible for OBC reservation and stressed that the recent move of Rajasthan High Court which quashed a state government order granting OBC reservation to Jats of Bharatpur and Dholpur was against the principle of natural justice.

He said that the decision should be challenged in a competent court.

The high court gave the ruling recently and ordered a review of the status of all communities under the OBC.
