The University Grants Commission (UGC) has asked vice chancellors of all central universities to ensure that they and their affiliated colleges reserve two supernumerary seats for students from Jammu and Kashmir.
Referring to previous letters regarding creation of two seats under Supernumerary Quota for students from Jammu & Kashmir, UGC in a letter said as per a HRD ministry decision, supernumerary quota seats have to be made available.
"The Ministry of Human Resource Development had decided that two Supernumerary Quota seats will be made available to the students of Jammu and Kashmir who seek admission through centralised counselling in universities/colleges approved under Section 2(l) and 12 B of the UGC Act or recognised by AICTE and have at least one NBA approved course," the letter by UGC secretary Jaspal S Sandhu said.
"I would feel highly obliged, if you kindly ensure that the two supernumerary seats in your esteemed university and colleges affiliated under your esteemed university are created for the students of Jammu & Kashmir," the letter added.
