Health services at Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College hospital here were affected today when the resident doctors went on a token strike demanding security for the doctors.

The Resident Doctors Association has threatened to go on a general strike if their demands, including security to doctors, were not accepted by the university authorities.

President of the association Mohammad Ahsanullah said that a final decision on this would be taken tonight.

He alleged that no follow-up action had been taken in several previous cases involving assault on doctors by family members and attendants of patients.
