Assam government has taken steps to establish residential girls' schools in all district headquarters for school going BPL girl children from classes V to XII during the current financial year, an official release said here today.
The state government has also undertaken a scheme of constructing working women's hostels in all district headquarters and preliminary work in this direction has started.
The state government has decided to set up a separate developmental authority for speedy implementation of various women and child welfare schemes, the release added.
