Hundreds of residents today took a street march at DLF city to demand the entire Aravalli mountain be declared protected forest zone.

They participated in a 3-km march from Silver Oaks Chowk to Faridabad on Gurugram-Faridabad expressway.

"Gurugram city has no formal city forest apart from MCG-citizen run biodiversity park. We want entire Aravalli of Gurugram be notified as city forest including biodiversity park and declared as complete forest zone," said Sarvadaman Oberoi, a city-based environmentalist.

"Aravalli mountain range has been playing a critical role in Gurugram and Delhi in terms of green cover and maintaining water table. Hence whatever available forest areas we have should be notified, similar to Mangerbani, the only virgin forest in the region," Oberoi said.
