Respite from heat as light rain lashes Punjab, Haryana

People got some respite from heat in Punjab and Haryana as light rains today lashed most parts of the two states.

According to MeT office, the maximum temperatures in the two states continued to hover close to normal levels for the fourth consecutive day today.

Light rains lashed parts of Punjab causing mercury to fall by a few notches as Amritsar recorded the maximum temperature at 37.2 degrees Celsius, one notch below normal.

Ludhiana, which received heavy rains (25 mm), recorded a high of 34.6 degrees C, down three notches while Patiala's maximum settled a notch below normal at 36.3 degrees C after light showers lashed the city.
 

Union territory Chandigarh recorded a high of 36.4 degrees C, one notch below normal.

In Haryana, Ambala registered a high of 36.8 degrees C while Hisar's maximum settled at 37.5 degrees C, three notches below normal.

Bhiwani recorded a maximum of 37 degrees C while Narnaul's high settled at 37 degrees C. Karnal registered a high of 36.6 degrees C.

The MeT office, in a forecast, said light to moderate rain or thundershowers may occur at isolated places in two states over the next two days.
