Restore Amarnath pilgrimage duration to 2 months: BJP

Yogi Adityanath (BJP) said during Zero Hour that the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB), headed by the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, was interfering in religious matters by curtailing the duration of the annual pilgrimage to 39 days this year.

The Yatra begins on Vyas Purnima which falls on June 4 this year and continues till Rakhi Purnima which falls on August 2, he said.

Adityanath also demanded representation for Hindu spiritual leaders on the SASB, which the BJP leader claimed has persons who do not believe in religion.

P Kumar (AIADMK) demanded a Kendriya Vidyalaya in Pudukottai district of Tamil Nadu.

 

Rajendra Agarwal (BJP) demanded that the government release a postage stamp in the memory of Lala Hardev Sahai.

Mansukhbhai Vasava (BJP) wanted a review of certain laws concerning environment protection as they were causing some unease among tribals in parts of Gujarat.

Annu Tandon (Cong) wanted the government to introduce new technologies to deal with the problem of groundwater pollution in her constituency of Unnao in Uttar Pradesh.

Mahendra Kumar Roy (CPI-M) wanted the government to set up a Central Wageboard for Tea Garden workers. MORE
