Ujwal, a senior citizen of Jodhpur, was honoured by Army Chief Gen V K Singh with COAS Commendation, Army officials said here.
The Chief of Army Staff Commendation is awarded to people outside the armed services and the civilian staff of the Defence Ministry.
Ujwal, a retired bank employee, has been working for welfare of ex-servicemen, their families and war widows. He has been associated in various capacities with Sainik Welfare Board in Rajasthan, they said.
He has been instrumental in resolving pension anomaly cases and getting ex-servicemen their due arrears amounting to Rs 20.63 crore from various banks. PTI AJD RAI
