Revenue department employee arrested on graft charge

A vigilance team today nabbed a revenue department employee on graft charge from Bihar's Khagaria district, an official release said.

Acting on a complaint, a Vigilance Investigation Bureau (VIB) team headed by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Vinjay Kumar Singh laid a trap and caught revenue department employee Upendra Thakur accepting Rs 15,000 as bribe at his rented accommodation located near Beldaur block office from one Abdus Salam Rahmani.

Thakur, posted at Beldaur Circle office, had demanded Rs 15,000 as bribe from Rahmani for mutation of his land, the release said.

The tainted employee was being brought to the vigilance headquarters at Patna for interrogation, it said.
 

The vigilance department has laid 53 traps and arrested 56 public servants on graft charge till June this year.
