A revenue inspector was today shot dead allegedly by unidentified assailants near Mojpur village here while he was returning home, police said.
55-year-old Promod Kumar Sharma was killed near the village falling under Sikeda police station in the district today evening, police said.
SP City Pradeep Gupta said that Sharma was rushed to the hospital, where he declared dead.
The officer was posted as Revenue Inspector in Khatoli tehsil.
A senior police officer has rushed to the spot and started search operation, Gupta added.
