A revenue official in Anantnag district was caught today while allegedly accepting bribe in lieu of preparing documents for property transfer, the State Vigilance Organization official said here.
The SVO Kashmir caught Abdul Rashid Dar, working as a Patwari in revenue department, while demanding and accepting a bribe amount of Rs 3,000 from a complainant, an official of the anti-corruption organisation said.
He said the complainant Reyaz Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Naropora, Wutnard area of Kokernag lodged a written complaint today stating the Patwari had demanded a bribe amount Rs 3,000 for preparation of the necessary documents in order to mutate a piece of land purchased by his father.

On receipt of the complaint, a case was registered and investigation taken up, the spokesman said.
He said the SVO team laid a successful trap in which the revenue official was caught red-handed while demanding and accepting Rs 3,000 as bribe from the complainant in presence of an independent witness.
