Revenue official arrested on graft charge

A revenue official was arrested by officials of Punjab Vigilance Bureau for allegedly accepting Rs 8,000 as bribe for property mutation.

A spokesperson said the Vigilance Bureau caught Patwari Om Parkash for allegedly demanding and accepting bribe from complainant Partap Singh of village Malowal district Tarn Taran.

The spokesperson said the complainant had approached the Vigilance department, complaining that Om Parkash was allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 8,000 for property mutation of his farm land.

He said a trap was laid and vigilance officials nabbed the accused.

A case under Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 has been registered against accused, he said.
