Revenue official held for accepting bribe in C'garh

APatwari(revenue official) wasarrested todayby the anti corruption bureau (ACB) for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 8,000 in Chhattisgarh's Raipur district.

Bhukhan Lal Sahu (61), posted at village Kendri under Abhanpur Tehsil of the district, was caught red handed while accepting the bribe from one Rajat Vaishnav for transfer of ownership of a land, an ACB official told PTI.

The complainant Vaishnav of Gabaud village in Balodabazar district works as a manager in a private firm.

The director of the firm Bunty Chandrakar had bought a piece of land in Kendri and authorised Vaishnav to look after the ownership transfer procedure, he said.
 

For the purpose, Sahu allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 10,000 from Vaishnav, he said.

Meanwhile, Vaishnav lodged a complaint to ACB in this connection following which it was verified and the accused agreed to accept the bribe of Rs 8,000 at Santoshi Nagar Raipur, he said.

A trap was laid there and as the accused was apprehended while accepting the bribe anount, the official said.

A case under various sections of Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 has been registered against him, the official added.
