A total of 860 cartons of illicit liquor were seized from an LPG gas tanker on National Highway (NH) 71 in Haryana's Rewari district today, police said.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of Rewari police intercepted an LPG tanker in the Khudan area on NH-71, a police spokesperson said in a statement.
The cartons were found to contain 22,640 bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL), it added.
The liquor was being smuggled to Gujarat, which is a dry state.
Both the truck driver and the helper managed to flee, the statement said.
This is the second consignment of illicit liquor that has been seized by the Rewari police in the last 10 days.
Earlier, 576 cartons of illicit liquor were seized from a vehicle on the Delhi-Jaipur highway.
