Rhino attacks forest guard in Rajiv Gandhi Orang Nat Park,

A forest guard was attacked and seriously injured by a rhino at the Rajiv Gandhi Orang National Park today in Assam's Udalguri district, a forest official said.

The forest guard along with three others were on patrol duty this morning near the Tinkona camp of the Park this morning when the full grown female rhino along with her calf attacked him and the guard suffered injuries in the chest, Park Director Sunny Deo Choudhury said.

The other guards opened fire in the air and the rhino along with the calf moved away from the area.

The injured forest guard has been identified as 30-year-old Kartik Dey, who was admitted to Mangaldai Civil Hospital for treatment.
 

This is the first time a rhino has attacked a forest guard in the National Park area, Choudhury added.
