killed by poachers at Rajiv Gandhi Orang National Park in Assam's Udalguri district, forest officials said today.
An adult female rhino was shot last night by poachers near the Amulya forest camp of the park.
On hearing the gunshots forest guards rushed to the spot.
The poachers could not take away the horns of the rhino and several empty cartridges were found near the body, they said.
A massive search operation has been launched in the area to nab the poachers, the officials said.
This is the second incident of a rhino being killed in thepark in the current year.
