Rice basmati prices eased at the wholesale grains market today on adequate stocks on higher supplies from producing regions against sluggish demand.
However, maize edged up on increased demand from consuming industries.
Traders said sufficient stocks on the back of higher supplies from producing regions against slackened demand from retailers mainly kept pressure on rice basmati prices.
In the national capital, rice basmati common and Pusa-1121 variety slipped to Rs 6,200-6,300 and Rs 4,700-5,500 against last close of Rs 6,300-6,400 and Rs 5,000-6,000 per quintal respectively.
On the other hand, maize moved up by Rs 20 to Rs 1,670-1,720 per quintal.
