Rice basmati ends higher on stockists buying

Rice basmati prices ended higher at the wholesale grains market today on increased buying by stockists against restricted arrivals from producing belts.

Barley also moved up on increased demand from consuming industries.

Traders said increased buying by stockists against restricted arrivals from producing regions mainly pushed up rice basmati prices.

In the national capital, rice basmati common and Pusa- 1121 variety ended higher at Rs 8,600-9,800 and Rs 7,400-9,800 from previous levels of Rs 8,600-9,400 and Rs 7,300-9,500 per quintal respectively. Barley went up by Rs 10 to Rs 1320-1330 per quintal.

Wheat MP (deshi) 2,180-2,380, Wheat dara (for mills) 1,540-1,545, Chakki atta (delivery) 1,545-1,550, Atta Rajdhani (10 kg) 220, Shakti bhog (10 kg) 220, Roller flour mill 820-830 (50 kg), Maida 890-910 (50 kg) and Sooji 980-1020 (50 kg).

Basmati rice (Lal Quila) 10,400, Shri Lal Mahal 10,000, Super Basmati Rice 9,500, Basmati common new 8,600-9,800, Rice Pusa-(1121) new 7,400-9,800, Permal raw 2,150-2,200, Permal wand 2,200-2,300, Sela 2,600-2,700 and Rice IR-8-1,800-1,850, Bajra 1,245-1,250, Jowar yellow 1,400-1,420, white 2,325-2,525, Maize 1,215-1,220, Barley 1,320-1,330.
