Rice basmati ends lower on subdued demand

Prices of rice basmati drifted at the wholesale market today due to fall in demand against increased supplies from producing belts.

However, barley moved up on increased demand from consuming industries.

In the national capital, rice basmati common and Pusa-1121 variety eased to Rs 9,000-9,800 and Rs 7,300-10,000 against last close of Rs 9,200-10,000 and Rs 7,300-10,300 per quintal respectively.

Atta flour mills and maida also traded lower at Rs 820-830 and Rs 930-950 from previous levels of Rs 835-840 and Rs 940-950 per 50 kg respectively.

On the other hand, barley found fresh buying support from consuming industries and rose by Rs 25 to Rs 1400-1405 per quintal.

(50 kg), Maida 930-950 (50 kg) and Sooji 990-1,000 (50 kg).

Basmati rice (Lal Quila) 10,400, Shri Lal Mahal 10,000, Super Basmati Rice 9,500, Basmati common new 9,000-9,800, Rice Pusa- (1121) new 7,300-10,000, Permal raw 2,100-2,150, Permal wand 2,200-2,300, Sela 2,700-2,800 and Rice IR-8-1,900-1,950, Bajra 1,210-1,215, Jowar yellow 1,400-1,420, white 2,325-2,525, Maize 1,230-1,240, Barley 1,400-1,405.
