Extending gains for the third day, rice basmari prices advanced up to Rs 200 per quintal at the wholesale grains market today on increased offtake by stockists amid likely fall in its kharif output.
Bajra however, eased on adequate stocks against subdued demand from consuming industries.
Traders attributed persistent rise in rice prices to depleting stocks and likely fall in its kharif output.
Besides, increased offtake by stockists too influenced rice basmati prices, they said.
In the national capital, rice basmati common and Pusa-1121 variety finished higher at Rs 5,000-5100 and Rs 4,100-4,800 as compared to previous levels of Rs 4,800-4,900 and Rs 4,000-4,600 per quintal respectively.
Rice prices have gone by upto Rs 500 per quintal in the last three days.
On the other hand, bajra eased by Rs 15 to Rs 1,285-1,295 per quintal.
