Rice basmati, non basmati fall on adequate supply

Prices of rice basmati and non-basmati fell up to Rs 100 per quintal at the wholesale grains market today following adequate supplies against subdued demand.

Barley also eased on reduced offtake by consuming industries.

Traders said subdued demand against adequate supplies from producing belts mainly kept pressure on rice basmati prices.

In the national capital, rice basmati common and Pusa-1121 variety eased by Rs 100 each to Rs 5,400-6,000 and Rs 4,600-5,600 per quintal, respectively.

Non basmati rice permal raw, wand, sela and IR-8 also fell to Rs 1,700-1,750, Rs 1,850-1,900, Rs 2,350-2,400 and Rs 1,575-1,600 as compared to previous levels of Rs 1750-1800, Rs 1,875-1,900, Rs 2,450-2,500 and Rs 1,575-1,625 per quintal, respectively.
 

Barley too declined by Rs 20 to Rs 1,600-1,610 per quintal.

Following are today's quotations (in Rs per quintal): Wheat MP (deshi) Rs 2,270-2,670, Wheat dara (for mills) Rs 1,675-1,680, Chakki atta (delivery) Rs 1,680-1,685, Atta Rajdhani (10 kg) 220, Shakti bhog (10 kg) 220, Roller flour mill Rs 860-870 (50 kg), Maida Rs 950-960 (50 kg) and Sooji Rs 1,020-1,030 (50 kg).

Basmati rice (Lal Quila) 10,400, Shri Lal Mahal Rs 10,000, Super Basmati Rice Rs 9,500, Basmati common new Rs 5,400-6,000, Rice Pusa (1121) RS 4,600-5,600, Permal raw Rs 1,700-1,775, Permal wand Rs 1,850-1,900, Sela Rs 2,350-2,400 and Rice IR-8 Rs 1,575-1,600, Bajra Rs 1,170-1,175, Jowar yellow Rs 1,490-1,500, white Rs 2,550-2,650, Maize Rs 1,390-1,395, Barley Rs 1,600-1,610.
