Rice basmati prices advanced by upto Rs 100 per quintal at the wholesale grains market today on persistent buying by stockists, driven by rising demand from retailers against tight supply.
However, wheat drifted lower on reduced offtake by flour mills against adequate stocks position along with a weak trend at futures trade.
Traders said persistent buying by stockists in the wake of surging demand from retailers against tight stocks position on fall in arrivals from producing regions mainly kept rice basmati prices higher.
