Prices of rice basmati firmed up by Rs 100 per quintal at the wholesale grains market today on stockists' buying.
However, wheat remained weak on increased supplies.
Traders said stockists' buying, driven by pick-up in demand against restricted arrivals from producing belts mainly led to the rise in rice basmati prices.

Non-basmati rice permal raw, wand,sela and IR-8 also settled higher at Rs 2,275-2,325, Rs 2,325-2,375, Rs 2,600- 2,800 and Rs 1,925-1,950 from previous levels of Rs 2,250- 2,300, Rs 2,300-2,350, Rs 2,500-2,700 and Rs 1,900-1,925 per quintal respectively in line with rice basmati trend.
On the other hand, wheat MP (desi) and wheat dara fell by Rs 25 and Rs 10 to Rs 2,125-2,325 and Rs 1,840-1,845 per quintal, respectively. Atta chakki delivery followed suit and shed Rs 10 to Rs 1,845-1,850 per 90 kg.
Atta flour mills, maida and sooji too ended lower by Rs 10 each to Rs 1,000-1,010, Rs 1,040-1,050 and Rs 1,070-1,080 per 50 kg, respectively.
