The West Bengal Right to Public Services Bill 2013 has been referred to the 22-member select committee to be chaired by Consumers Affairs Minister Sadhan Pande.
The Bill, referred to the select committee after few members including those from opposition, sought discussion in details to fulfil the aim of the bill that sought to penalise the public servants in case of failure to deliver service on time.
The opposition demanded three months' time to submit these reports but state Industries Minister Partha Chatterjee called for reducing the time to one month.
However, Speaker Biman Banerjee asked the committee to preferably submit the report in a month's time.
Meanwhile, The Kolkata Improvement (Amendment) Bill 2013 was passed by the House to bring changes in the Kolkata improvement Act 1911.
The amendment was brought with a view to restructure the set up of the trust and its functions.
The bill also sought to re-structure the terms and conditions of the tender and contract for the works.
