Rights activists from all over the state held protests at Jantar Mantar demanding compensation and rehabilitation schemes for rape, sexual assault and acid attack survivors.

Women from various universities, Wazirpur slum cluster, Narela and Mandavli also participated in the protest. The dharna was organised by the All India Progressive Women Association (AIPWA), an organisation which had been active in the movement after the December 16 gangrape incident.

"It is a shame that the fund named by the Government after Nirbhaya is pitifully inadequate and its purpose is still unclear. Government gave free medical care to the December 16 gangrape victim and also compensation and rehabilitation to her family. But the question is why not every Nirbhaya is entitled to the same care and compensation? We demand that Nirbhaya fund must give financial backing for a comprehensive scheme for rehabilitation and compensation," said Kavita Krishnan, National Secretary of AIPWA.
