An Andhra Pradesh- based human rights outfit today demanded judicial probes into the last month's encounter in Malkangiri where over two dozen Maoists were gunned down, as well as the Bhopal jail break by SIMI activists and their subsequent killing by the police.

Both probes should be headed by sitting Supreme Court Judges, the Andhra Pradesh Civil Liberties Association (APCLA) said here.

"The State Government should order a probe by a sitting Supreme Court Judge into the Malkangiri encounter (on Andhra-Odisha border). A similar probe should be conducted into the encounter of eight SIMI activists after they escaped from the Bhopal Central Jail on October 31," APCLA President Muppala Subba Rao said in a statement.

He claimed top Maoist leader Ramakrishna was arrested by the Andhra Pradesh police after the October 24 gunbattle in Malkangiri and said he should be produced before court.

Police have, however, denied capturing Ramakrishna.
