Union Minister Kiren Rijiju today made an aerial survey of the proposed site for establishment of a National Film and Television Institute at Jote near here.

The Union Minister of State for Home Affairs was accompanied by Additional Secretary (Films) from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Raghvendra Singh.

Talking to reporters at Naharlagun helipad after the survey, Rijiju said to promote film and television in the Northeast, the Centre had decided to establish a Film and Television Institute and accordingly constituted a one-man committee with Singh to conduct survey of potential sites.

"Many proposals were forwarded to the ministry by the states of the region and the committee has surveyed all the potential states," Rijiju said.

Arunachal Pradesh government had proposed five sites for the proposed institute at Jote, Yachuli, Dirang, Tezu and Pasighat, but Jote had been prepared as a suitable site, he said.
