Rijiju to attend first BRICS Migration Ministers' Conference

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju today left for Sochi in Russia to attend the first BRICS Migration Ministers' Conference which aims at bringing member nations to a consensus on issues concerning migration.

The representatives of BRICS nations -- Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa -- will deliberate on how to bring the member countries to a consensus on the basic issues concerning migration, including the opportunities, challenges and problems pertaining to regular and illegal migration.

Rijiju, Minister of State for Home, and other ministers from member nations will make a statement on the issue of migration, an official release said.
 

The meeting will also discuss subjects like 'migration as the factor of the successful development of the society in the context of the migration processes', 'influence on the socio-economic and demographic situation in the world' and 'new challenges and strategies in the frames of the transnational character of the migration flows'.
