A member of the district panchayat, wanted in connection with a triple murder case during a communal violence here, was today arrested and presented before a local court that remanded him to 14-day judicial custody.

Shakir Ali, who had been absconding, was arrested and produced in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Narender Kumar.

According to the prosecution, Shakir Ali was wanted in connection with three murders in Purbaliyan Village under Mansoorpur Police Station of the district during the riots that broke out here last year.
