Lead prices went up by 1.05 per cent to Rs 144.30 per kg in futures trading Wednesday as participants raised their bets amid pick up in demand in the spot market.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, lead for delivery in September edged up by Rs 1.50, or 1.05 per cent, to Rs 144.30 per kg in business turnover of 588 lots.
On similar lines, the metal for delivery in October was higher by Rs 1.15, or 0.80 per cent, to Rs 145.45 per kg in 18 lots.
Analysts said widening of positions by traders due to rise in demand from battery-makers in the physical market led to the rise in lead prices in futures trade.
