Rising demand lift basmati rice prices

Basmati rice prices strengthened at the wholesale grains market in the national capital today following increased offtake by stockists to meet rising demand.

Elsewhere, other grains including wheat moved in a limited range and settled at previous levels.

In the rice section, rice Lal Mahal and Lal Quila traded higher at Rs 10,500 and Rs 10,700, respectively.

Super basmati rice and rice common also traded up at Rs 9,700 and Rs 5,000-5,200 instead of Rs 9,500 and Rs 4,900-5,100.

Following are today's quotations (in Rs per quintal):

Wheat MP (desi) 2,400-2,800, Wheat dara (for mills) Rs 1,650-1,700, Chakki atta (delivery) Rs 1,720-1,735, Atta Rajdhani (10 kg) Rs 230, Shakti Bhog (10 kg) Rs 230, Roller flour mill Rs 895-900 (50 kg), Maida Rs 955-960 (50 kg) and Sooji Rs 1,075-1,080 (50 kg).
 

Basmati rice (Lal Quila) Rs 10,700, Shri Lal Mahal Rs 10,500, Super Basmati Rice Rs 9,700, Basmati common new Rs 5,000-5,200, Rice Pusa (1121) Rs 3,800-5,000, Permal raw Rs 1,700-1,750, Permal wand Rs 1,850-1,870, Sela Rs 2,250-2,350 and Rice IR-8 Rs 1,600-1,615, Bajra Rs 1,200-1,210, Jowar yellow Rs 1,600-1,700, white Rs 3,000-3,100, Maize Rs 1,500-1,550, Barley Rs 1,400-1,410.
