Aluminium prices edged up by 0.29 per cent to Rs 156.85 per kg in futures trading today as speculators enlarged positions on the back of rising demand in the spot market.

In futures trading at the Multi Commodity Exchange, aluminium for delivery in June edged higher by 45 paise, or 0.29 per cent to Rs 156.85 per kg in business turnover of 92 lots.

On similar lines, the metal for delivery in July was up by 40 paise, or 0.26 per cent to Rs 156.90 per kg in 2 lot.

Analysts said widening of positions by participants due to pick up in demand from industries in the physical market influenced aluminium prices in futures trade.
