Rising demand lifts arhar, gram prices

The wholesale pulses market ended on a better note today as arhar and gram prices firmed up by Rs 300 per quintal on rising demand from retailers against restricted supplies from growing regions.

Marketmen said increased stockists buying driven by uptick in retailers demand amid restricted supplies from producing regions mainly kept arhar and gram prices higher.

In the national capital, arhar and its dal dara variety shot up by Rs 300 each to Rs 8,700 and Rs 11,800-13,500 per quintal, respectively.

Gram also edged up to Rs 5,050-5,600 from previous level of Rs 4,900-5,400 per quintal. Its dal local and best quality were up by Rs 200 each to Rs 5,320-5,620 and Rs 5,740-5,850 per quintal, respectively.
 

Besan Shaktibhog and Rajdhani too quoted higher at Rs 2,270 instead of Rs 2,220 per 35 kg bag, respectively.

Masoor small Rs 5,350-5,750, bold Rs 5,500-5,800, Dal Masoor local Rs 6,150-6,650, best quality Rs 6,250-6,750, Malka local Rs 6,600-7,100, best Rs 6,700-7,100, Moth Rs 5,700-6,100, Arhar Rs 8,700, Dal Arhar Dara Rs 11,800-13,500.

Gram Rs 5,050-5,600, Gram dal (local) Rs 5,320-5,620, best quality Rs 5,740-5,850, Besan (35 kg), Shakti Bhog Rs 2,270, Rajdhani Rs 2,270, Rajma Chitra Rs 5,150-6,450, Kabuli Gram small Rs 6,800-8,700, Dabra Rs 2,700-2,800, Imported Rs 4,700-5,100, Lobia Rs 5,100-5,300, Peas white Rs 3,100-3,125 and green Rs 3,300-3,400.
