Chana prices went up by 0.95 per

cent to Rs 3,493 per quintal in futures trade today as participants enlarged positions, driven by rising demand in the spot market.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in far-month August moved up by Rs 33, or 0.95 per cent, to Rs 3,493 per quintal with an open interest of 57,390 lots.

On similar lines, the commodity for delivery in July was trading higher by Rs 30, or 0.87 per cent, to Rs 3,453 per quintal in 88,210 lots.

Analysts said widening of positions by traders following rising demand in the spot market against restricted supplies from producing regions mainly led to the rise in chana prices at futures trade.
