Amid rising domestic demand and restricted supplies from producing belts, mentha oil prices were up by 0.84 per cent to Rs 979 per kg in futures trade today as participants enlarged positions.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in December rose by Rs 8.20, or 0.84 per cent, to Rs 979 per kg, in a business turnover of 176 lots.

Likewise, the oil for delivery in January went up by Rs 7.90, or 0.81 per cent, to Rs 987.40 per kg in 18 lots.

Market analysts said widening of positions by traders on the back of surging demand from consuming industries in the spot market against tight stocks position on fall in supplies from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh, mainly led to the rise in mentha oil prices at futures trade.
