Sugar prices were up by 0.34 per cent to Rs 3,884 per quintal in futures market today as speculators raised their bets amid pick-up in demand at the spot market.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, sugar for delivery in March month went up by Rs 13, or 0.34 per cent to Rs 3,884 per quintal with an open interest of 6,120 lots.
Market analysts said increasing of positions by traders on the back of rising demand from bulk consumers as well as retailers at the spot markets mainly attributed the rise in sugar prices at futures trade.
