Rising demand lifts turmeric futures by 1.44 pc

Turmeric prices were up by 1.44 per cent to Rs 6,900 per quintal in futures trade today as participants enlarged positions, driven by pick up in demand in the spot market.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in September rose by Rs 98, or 1.44 per cent to Rs 6,900 per quintal with an open interest of 975 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in October moved up by Rs 92, or 1.32 per cent to Rs 7,064 per quintal in 15,505 lots.

Analysts said fresh positions created by traders due to pick-up in demand in the spot market against restricted supplies from producing regions mainly pushed up the turmeric prices at futures trade. PTI DP SUN SBTRising demand lifts turmeric futures by 1.
