Celebrities dress to impress on the red carpet but it is at the Grammys that they unleash their sartorial creativity and this year was no different with stars like Lady Gaga, Beyonce and Jennifer Lopez opting for unusual colours and plunging necklines.
Leading the pack was Gaga, who has a reputation for shock dressing - be it opting for a meat dress or emerging out of a giant, semi-transparent egg, donned PVC, fishnets, chains and barely-there black croc-skin top.
Lopez flashed lots of leg in a halter neck Ralph & Russo dress with thigh-high slit in a lilac colour.
Beyonce skipped the red carpet but stunned in several outfits throughout the ceremony where she proudly flaunted her baby bump. Her sister Solange, who is known for her edgy style, took inspiration from the Grammy trophy for her golden metallic gown.
Adele's olive green Givenchy Haute Couture gown with checkered bodice and delicate beaded sleeves was a departure from her safe choice of blacks and reds.
But not all experiments resulted in impressive red carpet outing as some people took their imagination too far. Katy Perry's perfect make-up came undone with her unusual combo of gold and feathered Tom Ford number.
Girl Crush dressed up in a baby pink top that she teamed with a strange skirt which had several colourful balls on it, giving her a scary doll-like appearance.
Singer Jacqueline Van Bierk also opted for a Grammy-themed gown that had dozens of CDs on it.
Rihanna ditched an elaborate look to display her multiple tattoos in an orange bralet and balck ruffled skirt.
Singer/songwriter Joy Villa made her way down the red carpet in a large white cape, which she tore off to unveil a blue dress with Donald Trump's campaign slogan "Make America Great Again" printed down it.
The back of the dress had "Trump" printed across it.
The most outrageous outfit belonged to rapper CeeLo Green, who looked like a cartoon character in his floor-length gold jacket, gold gloves and gold headpiece.
The singer explained on his Instagram that he was dressed as his new alter ego, Gnarly Davidson.
