The youngest of the Phogat sisters, Ritu today met Sports Minister Vijay Goel to express her gratitude for his constant support to wrestling.

The Sports Minister wished her the very best and said that in the years to come, Ritu will bring laurels to the country.

"We must watch out for her in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics," Goel said in a press release.

Daughter of wrestling legend Mahavir Phogat and sister of Geeta and Babita, Ritu became the most expensive Indian woman wrestler to be bought by Jaipur franchise for Rs. 36 lakhs at the Pro Wrestling League auction yesterday.

Ritu, who managed to bag a higher price than Olympic medallist Sakshi Malik, said: "Wrestling has a very rich history and we have continued to do well in this sport."

Goel said just like cricket, other indigenous sports like wrestling and kabaddi must be given a big boost.

"We are committed to provide the best to our players and my doors are always open if you have any issues or would like to share your suggestions," Goel said after meeting Ritu at his official residence.

The President of Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh was also present to convey his best wishes to Ritu.
